FAQ – Standard containers
What is a standard container?
In short, a standard container (ISO container) is a standardized transport box built from steel with doors in one end. Standard containers have forklift pockets, making them easy to handle, just as they have standard brackets that can be used for securing the container onto vehicles and for stacking onto ships. Most standard containers also have a unique letter / number combination, making worldwide tracking of each individual container possible.
What size standard containers are available?
At DC-Supply you can buy or rent 6 ft, 8 ft, 10 ft, 20 ft and 40 ft standard containers. All dimensions and other relevant specifications for each individual container size is available here:
What colours do you offer standard containers in?
At DC-Supply, we always have standard containers in 6ft, 8ft, 10ft, 20ft and 40ft either in stock or under way, in the following colours: Blue (RAL 5003), black (RAL 9005), anthracite (RAL 7016) and red (RAL 3001). Both sale and rental containers are available in these standard colours, however, you can also always have the container painted in exactly the colour choice and scheme that you want, just as you can have your company logo added. What exactly is CSC approval?
CSC stands for Container Safety Convention. Containers used for international transport must be approved and display a standardized plate, verifying the safety approval is in accordance with Executive Order on Convention on Safe Containers. All new containers have a CSC plate that is valid for 5 years after production. After 5 years the container must be examined, verified that it is still up to an accepted standard and CSC plate updated – this also applies after any repair or remodelling of the container. The approval can be updated for a maximum of 30 months at a time, and only if the condition of the container is still in order. At DC-Supply, we offer 20ft and 40 ft standard containers with CSC approval.
